What is sub drop?
Sub drop, is a term used to describe the negative physical and emotional effects that some submissives may experience after an intense BDSM scene. It’s a state of emotional and physical exhaustion, vulnerability, and sometimes depression or anxiety that can occur in the hours or days following a BDSM experience.
Sub drop is thought to be caused by a combination of factors, including the intense physical and emotional stimulation during BDSM play, and the release of endorphins, adrenaline and other hormones that are suddenly depleted.
Symptoms of sub drop can vary from person to person, but common signs include fatigue, mood swings, feelings of sadness or worthlessness, difficulty concentrating, and a loss of appetite or libido.
It’s important to note that not everyone who engages in BDSM experiences sub drop, and it’s not a reflection of weakness or inadequacy.
How to manage sub drop
The best way to mitigate or even prevent sub drop is through effective aftercare. This involves providing physical and emotional support to the submissive partner after a scene. This may include cuddling, providing water and snacks, or engaging in gentle physical touch or reassurance.
